Our Lady of the Rocks was created over the years by locals who threw stones around a rock where fishermen had discovered an icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1452. On this man-made island, you will find a church, a museum, and a souvenir shop.
The island of Our Lady of the Rocks was established in the early 15th century. The church on the island was originally built in 1630 and rebuilt after the 1667 earthquake. Its interior was painted by the famous painter from Perast, Tripo Kokolja. Today, the island is known as a symbol of tradition and spiritual heritage of the Bay of Kotor, attracting visitors from around the world.
